(Got up at) 8 40/..   /  (Went to bed at) 12

25 minutes talking to Tib. F 68° and fine morning at 9 1/4.  Down to breakfast at 10 1/2.

Came upstairs at 12.  Skimmed through the whole of the 2nd volume of ‘A Picturesque Tour through Holland, Brabant,  and part of France; made in the autumn of 1789.  Illustrated with copper plates in aqua tinta from drawings made on the spot by Samuel Ireland. ‘ Ipse oculis perlustravit’ Livy, London, May 1st, 1790.  Printed for I and I. Egerton, Whitehall’, 2 volumes quarto pages 213 and 209.  A work of no great value nowadays.

Had Tib a little while, then 1/4 hour’s nap in my chair till 2 25/.. , at which hour F 76° on my table.

Off at 2 3/4 in the gig to Malton. Tib drove.  Back at 4 20/..

Dressed – dinner at 5.  Sat very long after dinner. Coffee. Charlotte with me in my room about an hour looking over maps and planning for her journey to the Pyrenees, etc.

Went downstairs at 9 1/2 and all came up to bed at 10 1/2, Charlotte with me in my room till Tib came at 11 3/4.  Very fine day, F 71° at 12 tonight.
