8 35/..

1 5/..

Rainy morning, F 54 1/2 at 8 35/.. –

Had Peterson – a coach 5 dollars a month more than a coupé, and langcés will be 5 dollars a month – Cannot let me have an always clean coachman and good coach under 100 dollars per month – a carriage newly painted will be ready next Tuesday – will wait to see it, and go as I have  hitherto done till then –

Moved the bed in my room over against the door so as not to be seen on opening my salon – Did it that I might breakfast in my room –

The stove lighted 1st time in my salon – so hot I could not bear – Set the window open – A basket corbeil of wood at 3 marks contains 24 pieces 12 to 14 inches long, and not thick – bois d’hetre – Breakfast at 11.  Eugénie had got another corbeil of wood this morning – had it brought into my bedroom, not meaning them to begin with fires regularly as yet – She will want looking after.  Do not trust her too much –

Rainy, stormy windy day, which, I suppose, prevented Mr. Browne’s calling – The wind blew in one of the window panes into my salon –

Sat all the day at my cashbook account, in my bedroom and dined there in 3/4 hour at 5 40/.. –

The master of the house came to me to say all sorts of civil things about doing what he could to make me comfortable –

Dressed – Out at 7 40/.. – To Lady Harriet – not at home – Then to Comtesse Blucher --  the 1st to arrive – then came Miss Oxholme, young Mrs. Billé and her husband, and Captain and Mrs. Fallesen, a Mr. Benson? in uniform, and my banker, Mr. Sieveking, whom I never knew till the end of the evening – and Comtesse Blucher – Said I had behaved very rudely to her in never speaking at the Swedish ambassador’s on Tuesday – Lastly came M. and Lady Harriet de Hagemann, who had dined at baron Nicolai’s, the Russian ambassador.  Made a point of speaking to my banker – Agreeable evening –

Comtesse Blucher and Miss Ferrall and Lady Harriet and Mrs. Fallesen and I all to go to the play together tomorrow night at 5 1/2 –

Lady Harriet will take me to the Nicolais’ on Sunday evening – Baron N- wished to introduce the duchess de Montebello to Madame Bille today at his dinner party, but she, the duchess, made a face and walked off! She looks down upon the Copenhagen people – foolish enough – Home at 11 50/..  Rainy, windy, stormy day, calm towards evening but still rainy – F55° now at 12 40/60 p.m. --
