Fine but rather hazy morning, F 59° at 7 50/.. a.m.  Breakfast at 9 40/.. in 35 minutes –

Writing literal French translation into English, Letter 3 Voltaire, and 1/4 hour’s nap till 11 – Then at French.  

At 11 1/2, read the whole morning service and then till 12 3/4 explaining to Thomas the 1st lesson (20 Ezekiel) that the crying sin of the Jews was idolatry etc. etc. –

From 12 3/4 to 4, at German (but asleep 1/2 the time), doing over what I had read before –

Dressed – off to the de Hagemanns’ at 4 50/.. in a remise. There at 5 – dinner – Nobody but ourselves at dinner or in the evening – Agreeable evening.

Home at 11 – Fine day but less fine than of late, F 58 1/2° at 12 1/4 tonight.  Burnt cousin papers Read a little German --
