Rainy
morning, F 54° at 8 – Breakfast at 9 10/.. in 1/2 hour –
Out
at 9 55/.. – Walked 25 minutes (1 1/4 in English) beyond the 1/2 mile-post on
the Roskilde road to the barrier at the far end of the lake and trottoir – There
at 11 1/4 in 1 20/.. hour and home at 12 40/.. – Disagreeable, windy day, raining
more or less some part of the way going and almost all the way returning –
Dressed
– Mr. Browne called for 2 or 3 minutes at 1 1/2 to say the audience was to be at 2 p.m. tomorrow
– Should be at Mrs. Browne’s at 1 3/4 to take up her and Mrs. Stuart Courtenay
– Sent to order carriage for tomorrow and for tonight at 7 1/2 to go to Lady
Harriet, and pay Comtesse Blucher for my play ticket of last night –
From 2 1/4 to 5 20/.. at my accounts or rather calculating the values of different monies etc. Dinner at 5 20/.. in an hour – Then calculating again till 7 –
Dressed – Out at 7 40/.. – Countess Blucher not at home – Then to the de Hagemanns’ – Lady Harriet ordered her carriage and took me to the Russian minister’s, baron Nicolai – not at home – Then to Miss Oxholm’s (palace of prince William of Hesse). Not at home – Lady Harriet wrote my name on her cards – the turn down of the corner to signify en personne – Tea at 9 at Lady Harriet’s – Monsieur de Sarmento (Portugueze Chargé d’Affaires) came to take his final leave –
Home
at 10 40/.. – Rainy, windy morning, but tolerable while I was out – I had
scarcely returned before the rain was heavier – Very rainy afternoon and evening,
but fair when I returned tonight, and nearly so at 7 40/.. and afterwards – F
56 1/2° now at 11 3/4 p.m. --
