Very
fine morning at 6 – very hazy at 7 – F 57° at 8 1/4 breakfast –
Off to Lady Harriet at 8 50/.. – Took Thomas to M. Christiani’s en passant – To have the carriage at 4 dollars a day as above –
Waited 1/2 hour, off at 9 40/.. for Lady Harriet’s and at the Hermitage at 11 – waited till 1 3/4 then the troops (about 8,000) came in sight – sham fight – the children and mamma frightened –
Off
back again at 2 3/4 before the end and home at 3 52/.. –
Very
pretty drive – Fine park – Waited dinner for M. de H- till 6 – Tea at 8 3/4 –
Home
at 9 50/.. – Till 12 arranging traveling bag etc. for being off at 7 1/4 a.m.
tomorrow –
Fine
day, tho’ threatening rain between 12 and one but it held off – F 55° at 11
