No kiss. I left Ann in bed to have her blister dressed and breakfast and lie in bed quietly –
Small
rain and F 39° at 9 25/.., at which hour went down to breakfast – Sat over it
an hour reading – Then 1/2 hour at Ann’s bedside, then from 11 to 11 55/.., reading,
as during breakfast, the first 33 pages Architectural Magazine for this
month, No. 3, being the 1st number of Volume
3 –
At
12 1/4 read prayers to my aunt in bed, and Oddy and Mary and George and John
Clarke in 1/4 hour –
Then
till 1 35/.., reading and making notes from Architectural Magazine, No. 23 –
Then
a little while again with Ann, who had just had tea again instead of
luncheon and lay down again in consequence of the soreness of the blister
which had, however, done very well and Ann was already relieved by it –
From
about 2 to 4 1/2, dusting my books in the library passage and clearing one of
the cupboards in my study and putting the books into the library in back rows –
Ann
got up about 4 1/2, and with her from that time till dinner at 6 1/4 in 1/2 hour
–
Then
3/4 hour with my father and Marian – Then coffee with Ann in the blue room, and
afterwards till 9 5/.. wrote the whole of yesterday and so far of today – Ann
much better – in good spirits, as I tell her, ‘blithe as a bee.’
With
my aunt from 9 40/.. to 10 20/.. (i.e. 40 minutes), at which hour, F 43 1/2°
and windy wet night – Fine day from between 10 and 11 a.m. though high wind all
the day and higher towards night –
