Fine
morning, F 54° at 9 5/.., at which hour breakfast alone – Ann off to the school
at 8 35/.. –
I
had stood some time reading in the Blue room Cobbett’s Legacy to Parsons, an
infamous attack upon the Established Church and calculated to much harm – Ann
bought the little book at Birmingham, it having been named to her by her drawing
master, Mr. Brown!
Had
Marian after breakfast, talking of management of fires etc. in the winter –
Meant
to have written letters this morning, but felt much disinclined and rather headachy.
No motion since about ten on Thursday
morning but did a little this morning after breakfast –
Sauntered
about the house till after 11, Ann having returned at 11, then sat with her till
she and I read prayers to my aunt in 33 minutes at 12 1/2 –
At
the school at 2 5/.. – At church at 3.
Mr. Wilkinson did all the duty – preached 19 minutes from Luke xix part
of verse 13. I was thinking what to write to Mr. Charles Sharpe
Ann
went to examine the Sunday School boys preparing for confirmation. I waited at Cliff hill while she came –
about an hour there – Mrs. Ann Walker in very good sorts –
Home at 6 1/4 – Wrote to acknowledge Mr. Charles Sharpe’s letter received last night said the testimonials as to character seemed quite sufficient – Would write to Mr. Johnson by tomorrow’s post, and give a determinate answer as soon as possible – Wrote and sent my letter to ‘Mr. Charles Sharpe Central National School, Westminster, London postage paid’ and dinner at 6 40/.. –
Near 1/2 hour with my father and Marian – Coffee – skimmed over the newspaper while with my father – Sat talking to Ann till 9 20/.. Then till 9 35/.. wrote the above of today –
With
my aunt 20 minutes till 10 10/..
Fine
day, F 58° now at 10 20/.. p.m.
