10 7/.., drove off to Madame Galvani’s,. supposing she would be at home to
give me a lesson – No! Just going out to Madame Brownrisse, No. 32 rue de
Rivoli, so set her down there –
Then
went to No. 56 rue des Arcis to my old tea shop, removed from No. 3 rue
des Lombards – Then bought cheese at Bertrand’s, and home at 12 10/60 –
About
1/2 hour talking to my aunt about the tea, etc. etc. – From 12 50/.. to 2, read
from page 50 to 70, Volume 1, Flore de Français – A little drowsy once
for a few minutes –
Drove
out with my aunt at 2 1/4 to the bois de Boulogne – My usual walk in 1 40/..,
and home at 5 –
Very
civil note from M. Droz of excuse – Madame Droz not well enough to come
– Note also from Dr. Tupper – could not come because called out of town –
Dressed
– Dinner
at 6 1/4 – Read the paper, as usual partly aloud – Came to my room at 8 40/.. –
Coffee at 9 35/.. – Came to my room at 10 40/.., at which hour, Fahrenheit 51°
–

Fine
day – no sun, and coolish, though I was
hot enough in walking –
My larynx offensive. Nearly half hour cutting up and making away with it down the water closet after Cameron had left me. Thus has ended my first anatomical preparation. I shall know better another time. Had I not cut this too much, I should have merely changed the spirit, for it was this alone that smelt so bad –
