12 1/4

Dawdled about till 12, then down the new bank to Halifax – Called at Mr. Jagger’s and spoke to him about a gig – Thence to make some shoppings at Butter’s –

Mrs. Henry Priestley came in – waited for her a very long time then with her to 3 or 4 more places and walked back with her past Well-head up Bull Close lane to King Cross turnpike – Told her of my going to Newcastle on Wednesday etc.  Sat a while at the Saltmarshes’ thence up the old bank home.  Sauntered about the new road, and came in at 5 1/4 –

Called at Matty Pollard’s at the Cunnery as I went, and promised William some pills – got him 8 at Suter’s and called and left them as I returned.  They are the same sort of pills I give our housemaid Elizabeth Wilkes Cordingly, 2 grains of pilular colocynthis and 2 grains of pilular refi, and 1 grain of calomel in each pill –

In the evening, came upstairs a little before 8 – Arranging 1 thing or other –

Very fine day – Summerish, yet a fine cool air, and not very much sun, that it was pleasant walking – Barometer a very little below changeable.  Fahrenheit 61° at 9 p.m. – Came upstairs at 11 20/60 –
