June
Sunday 3
8 10/..
12
Very fine morning; Fahrenheit
67 1/2 ° at 8 1/2 a.m.
Ann came to me at 9 – Better,
but very poorly. Poor thing, soon worse because some pother about breakfast. Poor thing, she is not fit for much. She is so impatient and her temper so disagreeable.
I shall dislike both it and her by and
by –
The couturière not come – This
woman is terrible – Sent George off with a note – Ann’s dress came back, but no
message – It puzzles one to know what to do what with one potheration and another
–
’Tis now past 12 and nothing
done – I shall read prayers while Ann lies down again – Did read prayers (without
liturgy, in about 1/2 hour) till about 1 –
Afterwards finished my note
to Lady Stuart – with Ann – dawdling over 1 thing or other till dinner at 7 –
Took George and went out about 8 for 1/2 hour – Bought two little
veal pies and some oranges –
