Looking over travelling bag
etc. till 9 1/2 – Breakfast at 10 1/2, but Watson came – Then M. Chevalley about
couriers, that had not breakfast over till near one when Watson went away – Long
talk about Mariana –
Kind note from Lady Stuart de
Rothesay –
Then wrote full 1/2 sheet to Mariana
– ‘Look up – the heavens were never yet bereft of stars, though clouds might
hide their brightness’ –
Then wrote 3 pages to my aunt
– Then wrote to Mr. Briggs – Paid Mrs. Hawkins –
Off at 3 50/.. and in passing,
put into the post letters to my aunt, Mr. James Briggs, and Mariana –
At the Lodge, Lady Stuart’s,
Richmond park at 5 20/.. – Lady James Stuart came, nice little lively person –
Dressed – Dinner at 7 – Coffee
– Tea – Vere left us after 12 – Lady Stuart and I came upstairs at 12 50/.. –
Very fine day –Fahrenheit 61
1/2 now at 1 20/.. tonight.
Gave Miss Hobart the earrings and handkerchief.
